Someone who’s been raped might be feeling afraid, traumatised, ashamed, worthless or guilty. She (or he) may even feel that life is not worth living or that the world is a cruel and uncaring place. Knowing there are others who understand and care means so much.

Whether you make a financial contribution of any amount towards the cost of counselling and court support services … volunteer your time … or help out in some other way, please don’t leave this page without doing something to help. Your support really does make all the difference! Thank you.

Training courses take place at different times throughout the year depending on when each of our three offices need more volunteer counsellors or facilitators. To be added to the waiting list for the next training course, please fill in your details on the volunteer waiting list.

If you would like to work with clients as a counsellor, or represent the organisation as a training facilitator, you will require intensive, specialised training.

Counsellors undergo a rigorous and inspiring three month experiential training course, where they focus on personal growth, the medical, legal and psychological aspects of rape, and counselling skills. Thereafter, they are closely supervised for another 6 months before graduating to the counselling team, where they receive continued guidance and support.

Volunteer training facilitators undergo an in depth training course where they learn about issues relating to rape in South Africa, as well as facilitation skills, enabling them to present talks and workshops or host stalls at events, schools, churches and academic institutions.

Leave the world a better place

Another way to share our vision of a safer world for women is to leave money in your Will to Rape Crisis Cape Town Trust.

Such a gift costs nothing right now. In fact, by reducing the total value of your estate, it can lead to considerable savings on tax. Only when you no longer need it yourself will your money be put to work to ensure that the programmes and services provided by Rape Crisis will continue into the future.

Some people say that the noblest thing a person can do is to plant a tree that will one day provide shade for someone not yet born. Another is to help build safer communities for women and girls you will never know.

Your bequest to Rape Crisis Cape Town Trust is an investment in women and their right to live without fear or violence.

Please consult a qualified professional for help in drawing up or amending your Will to include a bequest to Rape Crisis Cape Town Trust. Or contact us to discuss how your gift could be used.
